Our Beliefs
ConnectOur Beliefs
At Redeemer Church, we are committed to the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Reformed tradition. As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), we hold to the following core beliefs:
Foundation of Our Faith
- The Bible: We believe that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It is our only rule for faith and practice.
- The Trinity: We affirm the doctrine of the Trinity – one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ: We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, bodily resurrection, and His future return in glory.
Reformed Distinctives
As a Reformed church, we emphasize:
- Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone): The Bible is our highest authority for belief and practice.
- Sola Fide (Faith Alone): Justification is by faith alone in Christ alone.
- Sola Gratia (Grace Alone): Salvation is by God’s grace alone, not by human merit.
- Solus Christus (Christ Alone): Christ is the only mediator between God and man.
- Soli Deo Gloria (To God Alone Be Glory): All of life is to be lived for God’s glory.
As a Confessional church, we adhere to the Westminster Standards:
- The Westminster Confession of Faith
- The Westminster Larger Catechism
- The Westminster Shorter Catechism
These documents summarize our understanding of biblical teaching on key doctrines.
Key Doctrinal Positions
- God’s Sovereignty: We believe in God’s absolute sovereignty over all creation, including salvation.
- Covenant Theology: We understand God’s dealings with humanity through the lens of covenant relationships.
- The Sacraments: We practice two sacraments – Baptism and the Lord’s Supper – as signs and seals of God’s covenant promises.
- Church Government: We follow a Presbyterian form of church government, led by elders.
- Christian Life: We believe in the importance of personal holiness, family worship, and active participation in the life of the church.
- Evangelism and Missions: We are committed to sharing the gospel locally and supporting missions globally.
Our Conservative Stance
As a conservative church, we:
- Uphold traditional Biblical values and ethics
- Affirm the sanctity of human life from conception
- Support the Biblical definition of marriage as between one man and one woman
- Emphasize the importance of sound doctrine and Biblical literacy
Community Engagement
We engage with our community in Moore County with love and grace, seeking to be salt and light in Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Whispering Pines, Aberdeen, and beyond.
We welcome those who are exploring the Christian faith and invite questions and thoughtful discussions about these beliefs. If you’d like to learn more, we encourage you to attend our services or speak with one of our elders.
